Vermilion River · 5 Acres Reclaimed

Started as a few four-wheeler trails. Finished as a sunlit, park-style riverfront the owner did not know he had.

Seven and a half acres of overgrown bottomland hardwoods along the Vermilion River, choked with heavy brush and big deadfall oaks. Five acres ground out with the ASV RT-135F in 5.4 days. What began as a request for simple trails turned into a three-phase reclamation that opened up a semi-shaded, park-style retreat on the water.

From a snake-haven deadfall thicket to a shaded half-acre you can actually use.

Half an acre of dense hardwood overgrowth at the back of the property, untraversable and riddled with deadfall oaks, ground out in a single pass. About four hours with the ASV RT-135F and its Fecon head, its very first job. What was a snake haven behind the pond is now a shaded, private spot that drains and gets used.

Youngsville · 3.5-Acre Fishpond

Low-lying, mow-it-twice-a-summer ground to a 20-foot fishpond and homesite.

A section that barely dried out enough to mow became a 3.5-acre fishpond up to 20 feet deep, with submerged cypress islands, pea-gravel breeding beds, and a boat launch, plus an 80×100 house pad and ~8 acres of reshaped, draining ground. Roughly 90,000 cubic yards moved over about two years.

Vermilion Parish · 3/4-Acre Homestead

The corner turn of an old quarter-horse track to a raised, draining homestead.

Three-quarters of an acre that used to be the corner turn of an old quarter-horse race track, reshaped into a raised homestead that drains. We hauled in A-4 soil for an 80 by 80 house pad, regraded and compacted the rest, and set a driveway with proper drainage. Today it runs cattle, horses, and a big chicken coop.

Vermilion Parish · 1-Acre Homesite

Low-lying, barely-draining lot to a raised, properly drained homesite.

The last low-lying acre left in the area, boxed in by ditched levees on two sides, reshaped into a raised, draining homesite. Levees knocked down, topsoil set aside, a 90 by 80 house pad built and compacted, the rest ripped and regraded. The first house pad J 1:9 ever built, and it happens to be the owner's own.
