The work
This was a four-acre tract sitting directly behind the customer’s home, and it was doing him no good at all. Low, swampy, untraversable ground that flooded every time the weather turned, with a half-acre pond on it so overgrown with aquatic vegetation you could barely tell it was a pond.
We cleaned up all four acres. The existing pond got the vegetation pulled out of it, then we dug an additional half acre alongside and tied the two together into a single one-acre body of water. From there the work was all about drainage: we built the surrounding property up to stop the flooding, laid in two V-ditches running better than 100 yards each, added an overflow culvert, and shaped a run of rolling hill accents around the pond that look good and do real work moving water off the tract. Ten days on site with the ASV RT-135F, the Hitachi ZX75US, and a John Deere 333.
Ground that could not be walked is now dry, graded, draining properly, and wrapped around a one-acre pond the grandkids can enjoy. A fun challenge and a very pleasing one to hand back to the customer.
